Your New Award!

We are delighted to share with you the fantastic news that the Local Government (State) Award 2023 has been made this morning in a hearing before Commissioner Muir, coming into effect from 1 July 2023.

This means that members will receive a well-deserved pay rise of 4.5% on the first pay period on or after 1 July.

The new Award also brings a range of improvements aimed at enhancing your working conditions and work-life balance, securing important new clauses such as the right to disconnect and improved parental leave.

We fought passionately to preserve existing conditions and successfully opposed the proposal for harmonisation of working hours across the industry, which would have seen no change in salary for employees who faced an increase or decrease in hours.

These wins are all thanks to the collective strength of members across local government!
