LGEA Submission to Public Works Committee Inquiry into Scrutiny of Public Works in NSW

The Inquiry into Scrutiny of Public Works in NSW is being chaired by the Hon Robert Brown MLC who is a representative of the NSW Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party.

Our submission outlines the current problems and waste created by a lack of engineering capacity within government and those agencies responsible for infrastructure development and delivery. We chart how the problem has emerged and provide our experiences at Sydney Water as a case study.

In the final part of the submission we set out some solutions “a better way forward” which are consistent with PA’s Engineering a Better Future Campaign which we are about to launch across all states. Featuring prominently in the solutions are the matters addressed by the Notice of Motion which is currently before the Parliament.
