Negotiations recommence for 2023

Negotiations for the next local government state award will recommence on 25 January, and conciliation is scheduled for early February.

It is still early days and we have a long way to go in these negotiations. However, there is already an obvious resistance from councils to entertaining significant improvements to existing conditions and achieving the necessary changes will take some fighting for. Rest assured, your LGEA bargaining team is up for the challenge and we will persist until we get the outcomes that are needed to ensure that our members have the support they need at work and are fairly rewarded for their work.

Being a member of the LGEA gives you the ability to have input and influence over the Award negotiations and we will be reaching out to you soon to get your feedback and views on various proposals as bargaining progresses.

It’s a simple fact, that the more members we have, the louder and better informed our voice will be in the negotiations. So speak to your colleagues and let them know that there has never been a more important time to join the LGEA.
