Following calls from the Association of Professional Engineers Australia and over 1600 engineers who signed a petition earlier this year, some important changes have been made to Australia’s Authorised Witness List affecting engineers.
As of Tuesday 18 September 2018, RPEng accredited engineers, and any engineer accredited under a State or Commonwealth law have been added to the list.
This is great news for LGEA members and all Australian-based engineers – it underlines their commitment both to the profession, and to the highest level of professional conduct. It is another step in the right direction for one of Australia’s most important professions, towards greater respect, recognition and reward.
You can view the updated Authorised Witness List here.
As the benefits of becoming RPEng accredited continue to grow, if you have at least 5 years’ experience, an eligible engineering qualification and undertake continual professional development, it may be a good time to think about getting registered.
